@John -...@Anonymous 3/5 - you're very welcome!

@John - Yes, PrepTest 59 was December 09. I didn't see anything crazy in that exam. The LSAT is remarkably consistent, and things tend to balance out. (A hard game or RC is generally offset by something else.)

I believe fluctuations in the # wrong to get a particular score are due more to the test-taking population than to the difficulty of a particular exam.

The -14 was an anomaly. Assuming that LSAC knows what it's doing when it comes to tweaking the exam, LSAC is happiest these days when a 170 equals -10 or -11.

If nothing crazy happens with the test-taking population in June, I expect that 170 will equal -10 or -11.Steve Schwartzhttp://lsatblog.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10294095.post-26454068569281136252010-03-13T17:40:33.462-05:002010-03-13T17:40:33.462-05:00Steve, I believe that Test 59 was December 2009, c...Steve, I believe that Test 59 was December 2009, correct?

I haven't previously read anything about that test, so what would you attribute to the fact that a -14 was good enough for a 170?

In your estimation, did this test (59) seem much harder than normal (i.e. a particularly hard LG game or RC passage), or does it just appear a statistical anomaly?

For example, as a June 2010 test-taker, is there any reason to believe that the threshold for 170 will be that high again (and I realize that you're not a psychic)?Johnnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10294095.post-81816382484726175912010-03-05T13:37:51.652-05:002010-03-05T13:37:51.652-05:00Thank you for putting these conversion charts toge...Thank you for putting these conversion charts together for us! Everyone talks about practicing on recent tests because the tests change, but rarely do people mention that the conversion has changed. I had a false sense of security as I was practicing with the earlier tests because my scores were as much as ten points higher, just as indicated by the trends in your graph. My brain really seems to operate better under the old system!

Thank you for all that you're doing to help us succeed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
