This question is from the June 2004 LSAT.
It brings up a very important technique for the Logic Games section: re-using diagrams. Your first impulse on this question might be to start diagramming to see where Z can and cannot be, but it's much better to just look back at our old diagrams, like the one we had on our last games question, and use those to save time.
From this, we see that Z can be in the 4th and 5th spots, and we know intuitively that Z can't be in the 6th spot (the rules show that O must go there). So let's start keeping track
Can go in: 4, 5
Can't go in: 6
M can go in the 1st spot (ZMSLVO), 2nd spot (MZSLVO), and 3rd spot (MSZVLO). You can diagram these out yourselves and see that they work with the rules, but in order to finish this post some time this year, I won't draw out a diagram for this. So our new count is:
Can go in: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Can't go in: 6
So, D is correct.
Remember:
Re-using diagrams from earlier questions to answer later ones is a key strategy on the LSAT that will save you a lot of time.
