Here's a Logic Games question from the June 2004 test.
This question is pretty simple but it's a good intro to this somewhat more complicated game. We'll just think about the rules and apply them, rather than diagramming, on this first question.
The first rule says F serves Y, so A, B, and E are out (since they don't have Y). The second rule says F (the falafel truck) serves exactly 2 buildings, no more, no less. So C is out since it doesn't have 2 buildings. So, all that remains is D and we know D is correct.
Remember:
Think about the rules and try to apply them for a few seconds before you start diagramming. It won't always work, but the small time investment can pay a big dividend if you don't have to diagram, since it saves a ton of time on this tightly-timed test.
Where did "me" go? His last post was on Friday. And from what I can tell he answered the problem wrong. Something is not right here. I suspect foul-play.
ReplyDeleteI think some evil corporate hoods from Princeton Review have taken Me hostage and are holding him in their basement. They are forcing him to write LSAT questions that more closely resemble real LSAT questions. (Everyone knows how bad Princeton Reviews LSAT questions suck). Then these merchants of evil tried to set up one of their own stooges in place of me. Of course they blew it. Couldn't get the very first post right.
Be afraid, be very afraid. Know that the end is near when they start posting questions from Princeton Review sample tests. (Oh, the humanities!)
No, I've just been very, very busy lately. I'm going to update the site in a little bit (it's a bit after midnight now).
ReplyDeleteIt seems like just a simple mistake.
ReplyDeleteD is not correct because the question asks for a "complete and accurate list" of the office building the falafel truck CAN serve. The falafel truck and pita truck cannot serve the same things at the same time, but who's to say one time the falafel truck serves Y and X and the pita truck serves Z and the next time the pita truck serves Y and Z and the pita truck serves X.
No where in the question stem does it state which office buildings does the falafel truck serve "at one time." Therefore, the correct answer is C (Office buildings X, Y and Z)because the falafel truck CAN serve them all. Hope this helps.
Curious to know what LSAC gives as the answer. I think the meaning of the question is ambigious (which is par for the course). The question states: Which one of the following could be a complete and accurate list of each of the office buildings that the falafel truck serves?
ReplyDeleteThere is no suggestion in the question that the trucks have more than one opportunity to be assigned to different buildings. The falafel truck could potentially serve any one of the three buildings. But once assigned the falafel truck can serve only two buildings. As far as can be determined from the question the assigments are permanent. If the assigment is permanent, then the falafel truck will only serve two buildings and thus answer D would be correct.
Once again I would be very curious to know what the official answer is. If the actual answer is C then this just confirms my suspicion that LSAT question writers are idiots.
This is LSAC Prep Test 43...Correct answer is D.
