October 2012 LSAT Score Release Dates

LSAT Blog October LSAT Score Release Dates

Update: For the first time ever (that I know of, anyway), LSAC released scores after the scheduled release date for a test administration. It's important to note that this was in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy (LSAC's office was closed).

Good luck to everyone taking the October 2012 LSAT!

The October 2012 LSAT scores / results are scheduled to be released via email by Wednesday, October 31, 2012, so you'll have to wait for your LSAT score.

However, the scores usually come out a bit earlier than scheduled.

Let's look at the trend over the past several years (click to enlarge):

Getting your score on Halloween just sounds kind of creepy, and I've never heard of them coming back on the scheduled release date itself. I'm going for Monday, October 29th as the most likely score release date based on the above.

"But at what time specifically do scores come on score release days? I need to know when to constantly refresh my email / LSAC account!"

In batches over the course of several hours. Likely starting late in the day (Eastern Time).

No one knows how the batches are organized, if at all.

The batches do not seem to be organized in any of these ways:

alphabetical/regional/high-to-low scores/low-to-high scores/test center #, etc.

Wish everyone all the best!

Please feel free to vent and discuss your general thoughts on the exam in the comments, but no specifics about particular questions themselves, please. (LSAC doesn't permit such discussion.)

  2. Does anyone know if the section with the zone/subzone game was scored?

    1. Yes. I had two reading comp and I definitely had that game in my logic games section

      Delete
  3. @ Anonymous, yes, that was the real LG section.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Does anyone know if the section about the !khung(?) dynasty passage was scored?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yep I had logic as many experimental and I had the reading with the !Kung so that's definitely it

      Delete
  5. that one was scored too. the RC was monarchs, about an african filmmaker, the weird name one

    ReplyDelete
  6. That !kung? shit was weird.

    ReplyDelete
  7. How do you that was the real section? The Zone, subzone one?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I only had one LG section and it had the zone/subzone game. Did anyone else find the kung/RC section extremely difficult?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Well fuhhh. I had two LG's bookend the exam. The first one I flew through and finished with 5 minutes left. The last one, I got off on my scantron and spent a few minutes correcting it and ended up guessing on like 4 questions in the zone game because I ran out of time.

They gave me experimental first it seems. And it was my best section :(

    1. i had the same thing...any chance its the first one and do u remember any questions from the first lg section?

      Delete
    2. I remember the first was pure sequencing, about daily specials in a restaurant. Something about flounder and tuna? i think that was in the first one.

      Delete
    3. Mine was Bookended too, and I did MUCH better on the first--why would they put that at the very end when are brains are FRIED? I don't know, but I'm sorely disappointed. I ran out of time and had to guess on several. :/

      Delete
    4. me toooo. First was easy and I finished all. I saved the last question in the second LG till the end, and it was a good thing too bc it was HARD.

  10. Was the "free riding" passage part of the scored RC?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. nope i only had one RC and that wasn't one of the questions

      Delete
  11. not free riding-- i only had one RC section. i thought the sovereignty passage was a bitch, though. we know that the zone/subzone was scored because some people only had one logic games section, and that was in it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I had two RC's, I don't remember the sovereignty passage. Do you remember anything else from your RC section?

      Delete
    2. RC -- (1) proposal for a biography of an African American actor (Lionel something) (2) the review of North & Weingast's argument for the development of property rights in late 1600's England (3) the review of the female ethnographer's 3 narratives on the !Kong people (4) comparative section on invasive species and ecosystems

      Delete
    3. Did you have only 1 reading comp section? Was the one with invasive species and ecosystems and !Kung people part of the one reading comp section?

      Delete
    4. yeah, the !Kung/Nisa and invasive species were scored. the sovereignty passage was about paradoxes and parliament.

      Delete
  12. did anyone else have an extra LR section? I had them for sections 1,3,4 and i'm hoping it was section 3 that was unscored.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I did, and I'm hoping section 1 was unscored lol

      Delete
  13. I had 3 LR. Sections 1, 3 and 4. My section 3 had a question about Stradivarius(?) violins... I'm really hoping the first one was the unscored one

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I had the same setup and ran out of time on the 1st LR section with five Q's left, I have never not finished a section so I think and am hoping that this was the experimental.

      Delete
  14. Nope that Stadivarius section was scored.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I only had one Logic Games section and it included the subzones game. That game came together really nicely if you get past the initial obnoxious language. I still wish I had left it for last though because I ended up not having enough time to finish the game about the students' majors/speeches. Does anyone remember if the answer to two of the Must be True questions for that game were answer choice A dealing with Manolo's being one thing or another based on a question stem about other students' majors? ie "A: Manolo's major must be history".

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yup! I got that answer - there were a few were M had to be history / friendship

      Delete
    2. Yeah me too. Manolo was the inference you had to make to solve the questions.

      Delete
    3. you're really not suppose to discuss the lsat so specifically. keep it more general

      Delete
  16. thanks for posting this steve!

    ReplyDelete
  17. RC was brutal. And unluckily for me it was my 1st section when my nerves were the worse. I also had RC for experimental. And yeah that subzone game was pretty darn horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It seems rather universal that the subzone game was a bitch to some degree. Does that mean it will be equated more generously in the end? Will it add, for example, a couple more questions to the amount you can get wrong and still get 170?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. if many people did poorly on that game overall this could be true, assuming that the rest of the test wasn't easier than normal. really there is no way to know though...happy waiting!

  19. Hi all,
I had three LRs, one started with a dentist, sugar-cavity problem. Has anyone who did not have 3 LRs have this Q on the test.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Dentist, sugar cavity... I had one with metabolized blood sugar on the first page of one of my two LRs.

I vaguely remember a medical 5 out 5 persons agree parallel reasoning. Not sure if one of those are what you're talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I really messed up that zone/subzone game I was so hoping that would be the experimental section. I also think I didn't do so great on RC. That !Kung with random exclamation marks kept messing with my head. Trying to decide if I should cancel and retake in December...I know I can do better. Then again, I also don't want to have to keep studying until then :(

  22. re --" the game about the students' majors/speeches. --------

... if I recall correctly the first Must Be True was "O must be journalism major" and the other was "Manolo must be history major"

    ReplyDelete
  23. Which Reading comp. section was the scored one? For those who had only 1 reading comp section, was the passage about the Kung people and species and ecosystems in your reading comp section?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes the !kung was the scored one. I had three LRs, one started with a dentist, sugar-cavity problem. Did you have this as a first question on your LR sections?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I had three LR's all 25 questions. The first one seemed the easiest and the third was harder. My 4th section was standard. I'm not sure if the first was easier or if RC and the Kung! blew my mind. Any ideas as to which one was experimental? LG pretty standard outside of the wordiness of the 4th question.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Does anybody remember a question about telescopes in space vs on land? I'm trying to remember what section it was in, but to be completely honest its all beginning to blur

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I had only two LR and that was definitely not on it.

      Delete
    2. Thanks! I was pretty sure it was in my first LR, so must've been experimental. Its just funny that nowhere on the net is anyone mentioning this particular question. Not that it was overly difficult or anything...

      Delete
  27. I took mine in Korea. TOTALLY different test it seems from these comments.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Did the zones/subzones game have 5, 6 or 7 questions on it. Im trying to figure out how many I actually ended up guessing on.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If I remember properly subzones had 6

      Delete
    2. It finished the 23 questions total for the games, if that helps!

      Delete
    3. I beleive the 'zones' game accounted for questions 19-23..so 5 questions! (If I'm wrong than it was still only 6 questions)

      Delete
    4. It was questions 18-23

      Delete
  29. the zone question was brutal. had to guess on 4 of them due to time and yes it was scored, that was my only LG section. Any thoughts on which LR was the experimental? my test went LR- RC- LR- LR - LG, I am hoping it was either 1 or 3, preferably 1 but not to sure

    ReplyDelete
  30. Regarding RC: Was the invasive species passage a comparative passage? I don't recall that being the case. The only comparative passage I remember was from my experimental section and dealt with "seeing history as general law"

    ReplyDelete
  31. Good afternoon to all,

I had 3 LR sections, 1 RC, and 1 LG. I found the RC and LG sections more difficult than the LR sections. What do you all think?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i had the same test as you, i definitely agree. what LR do you think was experimental?

      Delete
    2. Honestly, I do not know, but I am hoping it was the 1st section. Sections 1,2,and 4 were LR for me. It is my 1st time taking the LSAT and I am freaking out to know my score.

      Delete
  32. I had two reading comp sections. I don't remember what the experimental was though...anyone remember?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I had 2 reading comp sections too. I remember the second one I had which talked about computer layers and minds to be SO MUCH EASIER than the first reading comp I did, so I figured that one should have been the real one.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My first section was on the reading comp on !kung and my 4th section was also reading comp but on the computer layers one.
Isn't the experimental usually in the first three sections?!?! So I expected the !Kung to be experimental and the computer one to be the scored one.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i had the Kung article in my RC and that was the only RC on my test (s.4) so unfortunately it was scored

      Delete
  35. Am I the only one who thought the scored LG section was quite difficult but the RC was not particularly difficult at all? Both LR sections were fine/normal difficulty in my mind. (I had an extra unscored LG section which I also found challenging but less so than the scored one).

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am not sure how to reach you privately so I am posting here. I took the test qith a recently broken hand (I'm right handed). I thought the test was really easy but I am canceling my score because I didnt get to almost ten questions I Was struggling so much just to fill in the bubbles (15 seconds at least each bubble.. it was ridiculous). Anyway, prior to this test, I had studied LSAT the old fashioned way by just pouring over old tests... but what type of preparation do you recommend for someoine like me who has nearly ran out of actual prep material in order to keep the skills sharp? Sorry for grammatical erors, typing with left hand. Thanks for any suggestions youi might have. cassiebow@gmail.com

  37. Very glad to hear the zone/subzone game was a scored section!!! Wording confused me esp because I was rushing with little time left..not sure if I was correct with my structure, but other games were standard and fair.

RC section was difficult. Kang passage was tiring, but it was an 8 question passage so I had to go for it.

For anyone studying in for the December exam, get a strong handle on principle questions. I thought there were more than usual this time around.

Good luck to everyone that took the exam on Saturday!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I am trying to remember what the last RC passage was about. I know there was the comparative passage about invasive species as the 3rd passage. Anyone remember what last one was about? I'm literally only curious because my mind is blank.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi all,
I had to LG sections, found the 1st section to be very easily done, the second set I had after the break. These were MUCH more difficult it seemed. I remember one I actually got to work on was about stocking shelves with certain categorized books. I REALLY hope this 2nd set of LGs were not scored b/c I guessed for most of them. The first set of LG's were so much more manageable so I'm hoping the first ones were the scored ones.
I began w/ RC, then Arguments, then LG, then break, and came back to LG, then last Arguments sections then last was the Writing section. Hope anyone else got the same as me and is also feeling the same way I do about the Logic Games sections.
I left feeling good, but after reading these posts, Idk, may have to register for the December LSAT just to be safe. Ah!!!!

  40. does anyone know howw many questions were in the sub group game

    ReplyDelete
  41. can someone please explain why it is wrong to discuss the details of the test? how can doing so affect anything, being that any given test is only administered once?

  45. I did too I am hoping the first one was not scored. Ingot a slow start and felt like it was pretty difficult

    ReplyDelete
  48. Am I the only person who's freaking out that, since LSAC's offices are in Eastern Pennsylvania, exactly where Hurricane Sandy is going to hit hard, their power will go out on Monday and the score release will be postponed days and days?

If I worked up at LSAC I would go ahead and release them now, or make everyone come in on Sunday and do them then before the storm hits. If just to spare thousands of anxious test-takers the agony.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anyone hear anything yet?

    ReplyDelete
  50. A 5:45 pm.... you're forgetting that they thrive by making test-takers anxious. I bet this has been their plan all along.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I hope it's tmrw or at least monday, when we can register for the Dec LSAT. Getting our scores on Halloween would suck. lol

    ReplyDelete
  56. they're gonna come monday....dont worry everyone...goodluck :)...im one of those freaking out....too many guesses to really predict how i did....RC was bad for me....everything else was fine....so long as LR section 1 was experimental for me....i dont believe in god but ill be praying tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I suspect (my guess, I have no privileged information) that it won't be out tomorrow. LSAC is still a company ,and by delaying score release until after the deadline for the December LSAT, they can ensure they'll pick up some deposits/late fees. Wednesday's not that far away!

    ReplyDelete
  59. they also know they will piss a lot of people off not releasing them tmrw....they should be out then. the only reason they wont be is weather....or they really do want to piss us off about dec. reg. in that case...theyll be sure to do it tuesday just because they can

  60. For those of us who are truly obsessed, here's a link to the energy company that has the area where LSAC is located, their outages in that county in PA:

Before this information, which I saw on www.lsac.org, I thought it would be a Monday release date. Now I think it's going to be Tuesday, or maybe even Wednesday or Thursday. :( The wait is killing me. Reading Comp was brutal, but thankfully everything else was normal.

    2. LIES, does not say anything about being closed.
& it still says 10/31/12 for release date.

"LSAC will be closed on Monday, 10/29. We will waive the late reg fee for Oct. test takers only who decide to retest in December. October scores will be posted by Thursday afternoon." - Directly from http://www.lsac.org/ --- Big orange bar.

      You owe someone an apology.

      Delete
  62. There's no way they'll release on Tuesday or Wednesday. It will be neither safe to go into their office nor even likely they'll have power. Have folks been looking at the track of this storm? I'm in Virginia so Sandy's affecting us too, but it's going to pass pretty much directly over LSAC's headquarters in Pennsylvania late tonight, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning.

Unless they're in a town with buried power lines, I would be amazed if they get power back by Thursday, or even this weekend. Remember that power crews can't go out while a storm is still in the area and winds and rain make repairs dangerous. LSAC probably stated Thursday to say that's the absolute earliest they'll get it out, but hopefully at least this time they have a small fire under their butts since they are truly late for the first time... ever?

I'm as anxious and apprehensive as anyone, but I'm gonna use my hurrication to finish up personal statements and get everything ready for applying the moment scores come in!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Home page in orange. Closed today. October test takers who retake in December will have late fee waived. Test scores will be released by Thursday afternoon. :(

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ok every time I go to the home page, I see no orange, no delay/closure announcement, and my October 2012 LSAT score release date is still October 31st. The girl on the homepage is still judging me, as always, for logging on there 20+times a day- and yet I still see no sign of delay. Where are you seeing all these orange/closure announcements?

    ReplyDelete
  66. It's true, unfortunately. On the home page in a dark orange the announcement says exactly that. LSAC is closed on Monday and scores should be released by Thursday. Maybe there is hope we will get them by tomorrow or Wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  67. So we can safely say we will definitely not get them today? Considering it's closed and everything?

    ReplyDelete
  68. I still don't see any orange warnings... I've tried clicking through the home page through my login to my LSAT status a few different ways and no where do I find any announcements of delays. Please post a link if you are actually seeing this...

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thesis:
LSAC had planned on releasing the scores today 10/29/12.
If they did not plan on releasing the scores today, they would not have felt obligated to waive the late registration fee.

  77. lsac.org

don't login. about halfway down the page, underneath the picture of the girl and the blue welcome box, there is a narrow orange line going across the screen

  82. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!
In Ontario, Canada all the law schools have a central application centre and all applications are due on Nov 1, 2012. Don't understand how I can spend so much money applying and not even know how well I did on my LSAT.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey, yeah, I'm in the same boat - guess we're the suckers who didn't write the LSAT early enough;)

Although I'm pretty confident I did well, my philosophy is to just apply to x-number of schools with the hopes that I did ok; if by chance I didn't - then I'm prepared to write in December. Ontario Schools take the December marks and you can still use them towards early admission.

      Delete
    2. Ya, thankfully I have the December test to fall back on because I'm not as confident in my score as you are. And ya, we should have written in June!

      Delete
    3. I'm in the same boat as well, however, I believe the Ontario closing date is 11:59pm ON November 1st...so, hopefully we get our scores back early afternoon on Thursday and you can decide from there whether or not it's worth it to apply.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong in assuming it's 11:59pm on November 1st vs. 11:59pm on October 31st.

      Delete
    4. Try calling the schools. I called mine and they said that they would be taking the October scores even if they came out late due to weather.

  83. Why wouldn't LSAC just have released the scores on Friday....

    ReplyDelete
  84. Not sure if this means anything, but I just got a notice from LSAC that they received one of my letters of recommendation. Given that it came in the mail and the professor who wrote it sent it out Friday, that means someone is at least picking up the mail at LSAC today, Monday, and processing forms.

Their offices may technically be closed, but they've got to be working at some level. Hopefully that means they're inching closer to a score release on Wednesday or Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I think LSAC should increase everyone's socres by 5 points for all this aggrivation.

    ReplyDelete
  89. The suspense is killing me. Stupid hurricane!!

  90. I just heard on the news that there are more than 4,000,000 power outages because of the hurricane so that is probably why the website is down.

  91. We Floridians get hit by Category 3/4/5 hurricanes on the reg and still go to school/work. How do these damn sissy new englanders lack the capacity to click "send" on computer program either before power goes out or via a generator!?!?! HATEHATEHATE

  92. Does anyone remember how many questions was on that last logic game?

    ReplyDelete
  93. This is just screwing everything up. Most Texas schools have an early decision deadline on Nov 1st. Thanks LSAC and Sandy for ruinning that.

    1. If you're looking at UT-Austin, they told me on the phone to submit the application and they would take the October LSAT score even if it came in technically past the deadline

  94. FACCCCCCKKKKKK I just want my scores! My Teach for America results come out on Thursday and I don't know if I can handle both results in one day!!!

    2. Thank you very much! I'll post back on here and let you know how I did with both haha

  95. Recent twitter post said that they are "back online today" even though their offices are technically still closed today. What do we think that means?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Anyone actually able to log on?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No :( I can go to the home page now but I can't log on

  97. Just got an email from Princeon Review saying they thought we just got our scores. I laughed to myself a little.

    1. Do you think that means they're coming out today? Maybe PR knows something we don't. #desperateformyscore

    2. If they knew something we didn't, they wouldn't have sent it out when nobody's gotten their score.
Of course, PR, based in an area of New Jersey that's suffering from serious blackouts/Sandy damage is able to send out an email. LSAC, in PA...not so much.

  98. New Tweet saying that "We still expect scores to be released by Thursday afternoon". Hoping that 'by' is the operating word and they'll be out before then....

    ReplyDelete
  99. they spend too much time tweeting and not enough time sending out scores to people!

    ReplyDelete
  100. The LSAC website is up and working...now we'll have to wait to see IF they are actually IN the office dispatching our scores

    ReplyDelete
  101. You can go ahead and log on now, no scores though.

    ReplyDelete
  102. LSAC is back up, but all of the attachments on my applications are gone. Early decision agreements, resume's, addendums, essays, none of them are there anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I did pretty well with patience until today and I think I have checked my e-mail 30 times already. Anyone think the scores will be up today? Even after the weather delay????

This delay makes me so sad :(

    1. Nah, LSAC is making it pretty clear that it won't be today on their Twitter feed. Just another day or so!

    1. Yeah, it wouldn't load for me either. Man, what an anxiety inducing experience this is turning out to be... Why Sandy, Whyyyyy?

  105. I wonder if the land mail recipients will get their scores before i do :p

    ReplyDelete
  106. I think the traffic of people checking for their LSAT score has crashed the LSAC site.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't know about that. I wouldn't think the traffic would be that much heavier than when scores are normally released. Unless they are on a backup server which can't handle a large load, I doubt this is the reason.

  107. Anyone get their scores yet?

    1. No, but I'm happy the website is back up. A step, albeit a small one, in the right direction.

    3. If only there were a hell for me to wish you eternally.

    4. Oh come on, lighten up. By Friday, we will all have our scores and it won't even matter by then when we got them.

    5. I will find you, Anonymous!!! Once I've changed my pants that I just went in.... Making me all excited and stuff

  108. The site IS up, I CAN log in, all my attachments are STILL there...I think there are a lot of trolls on here trying to boost our anxiety way up further than it already is.

    1. I was actually being serious, my attachments are gone hahaha, but good to hear it's not a system-wide failure

  109. does anyone know if the scores are posted before we get an email notification? or are the posted and we get an email a couple minutes later?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm pretty sure you get an email notification. Also, I read that once your icons on LSAC turn grey that means they are in the process of distributing scores. I keep logging on every 30 minutes for signs of the grey icons, still haven't changed color :(

  110. Do you guys think we will get the scores tomorrow? I'm going crazy!!!!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I would think so, especially since they should be open tomorrow. I am sure they still want to meet their expected release date

  111. Hey, I just talked to the people at LSAT and they said everyone should chill the f**k out and that you'll get it when you get. Take this opportunity to remember that you're only waiting to hear what your lsat score is, while other people are waiting to hear if their loved ones survived the storm.

    1. I agree with your sentiment, and yes, this is not a life or death situation. BUT, if people want to get their nervous energy out here while they wait, what is the harm? The only people on this page are trolls and those of us waiting.

      Delete
    2. May I point out you are the one calling the LSAC...

      Delete
    3. Exactly. Mr. 1-nothing thinks everyone needs to chill, yet he's calling LSAC, and he's here on this blog with all the rest of us who are all worked up, so the implication is that he must be every bit as guilty of LSAT score obsession. Personally, I think this blog is great, because it gives me an outlet for all my anxiety among people who feel my pain. No one else (well, except maybe my mom) cares or can sympathize, so it's fun to blog with people who do! Plus there are some pretty funny people posting some pretty funny stuff here in all their anxiousness! It's good comical relief! Hang in there everybody (easier said than done)! Sandy, please stop the madness so we can all get our scores!

    4. Wait, if you we're able to contact the people at LSAC does that mean that they are open today?

      Delete
  112. For a while this page and the people on it were pretty cool till all the trolls showed up.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I'd guess that the LSAC wants to get these scores out ASAP. I'm going to predict a Halloween release date.

  114. I was wondering if anyone could help me here. I was wondering if I am able to apply next year (Nov/13) with my score from this year? Thank you.
