The June 2013 LSAT is rapidly approaching. What questions do you have about studying for the LSAT?

This is an open post where you can leave comments and answer each others' questions as Test Day approaches.

(If you're looking for general advice on improving in Logic GamesLogical Reasoning, or Reading Comprehension, please note that I've already written plenty of blog posts on these topics and have integrated them into my LSAT study schedules.)

Keep at it. You're almost there!

  1. Hey Steve,
I was hoping you may be able to provide some brief advice for my situation.
I initially downloaded your 2-month schedule, and was doing pretty well up to mid-LR week 1. Unfortunately, my studying was put on a pause due to a family emergency, which took away roughly 1.5-2 weeks of critical study time. As I struggle to catch up now, do you have any advice on how to maximize studying in the short time left?

  2. I think that would largely depend on if you're scoring now what you want to score on your practice tests.

In general, I would say never take this test until you are doing that consistently.

  3. I have been using the 3 month study guide since March, but I am having issues with timing (I've only taken 3 full preptests). Do you think if I continue to take timed preptests I will be able to speed up my time by LSAT day? Right now I am not able to finish all the questions within the allotted time.

    1. Honestly, it depends if you mean all sections and it depends how much time you're short. If you mean in general, I think you should seriously reconsider the June LSAT at this point, because time is a SERIOUS issue and you being unable to finish all the questions probably means there are some more serious substantive issues you need to work on.

  5. My first LSAT was the 2012 June test. Then, it had been the first test that each logic game had two pages for each. Has this trend continued? Or have they reverted to one page per LG?

  6. This is maybe a silly question, but is the answer sheet loose or connected to the test? I've been practicing with the answer sheet loose but my last few practice sessions would be adjusted if it turns out I have to flip back and forth to the answer sheet.

    Thanks!

    1. The answer sheet is separate from the test questions.

  7. Steve, I've been using your 5 month day-by-day study schedule, and with just under two weeks to go, I'm still confident I can kick this thing's ass (maybe, I hope, who knows...) A thousand thank-yous for your study materials. My prep-test scores, however, have plateaued at about 165-6. I am finishing each section in the allotted time, but seem to be making some silly mistakes in LR, specifically around question 13, and then again around 23 and 24, though it seems like the last question is usually ridiculously easy! My biggest obstacle at this point though is LG. The new-ish (I believe they were introduced in 2009?) rule substitution questions are not going so well for me. I've still got preptests 62-68 to work through, but am dedicating tonight after work to just LG (i haven't yet done LGs from 45-49). Is it too late to boost my score?

    1. Hi Anonymous, you've done a long run. Please don't burn yourself with those LGs, as I am more than confident that you'll do great on this test based on what I've read from your comments. I'm taking my test in October, have studied on and off during the past two months and am still having about four months now. This is a long journey and I hope you finish it strong. Good luck!

  8. Steve,

Two out of the last 3 tests that I have taken (within a week) have been the lowest ever. I am not sure if it is from over preparing and burning myself out or what. Any advice on how to approach this last week?

  9. Matt, I think you should go over the questions you got wrong and analyse to see why you got them wrong. Don't overdo PTs.

I've done this in the past (burning myself out) and I'm gonna let myself relax a bit in the final week this time.

    Good luck.

  10. Anyone know whether circling a question on the answer sheet (to remind myself to go back and check it) is considered making a "stray mark"? ("The answer sheet says, "Make no stray marks").

I've actually done this before (I'm retaking). Didn't run into any trouble. But I'm just curious.

    Thanks.

  11. Is there a special needs test for slow readers?

  12. It's crunch time! The June LSAT is only days away. As we take those last PrepTests and balance rigorous preparation against potential burnout, let's not forget to check out the test site. Do it now! Test center supervisors won't talk, and visiting testing rooms is supposedly prohibited. But you'd be surprised what a little creative digging will uncover, especially if the test site is on your campus. Assume NO CLOCKS! If necessary, buy a cheap Walmart (analog only) watch with big numbers, dark hands and a fresh battery. Make sure you know where visitor parking lots are in relation to the test center. Like me, you may feel your sorry, sad brain is selling you short. But leave nothing else to chance! Good luck.
